Every action counts in the fight for abortion access. Today in ❤️ Reproductive Freedom for All we’re featuring November 20, 2024 news and critical calls-to-action.
Across the nation, health centers continue to provide essential sexual and reproductive health services like birth control, cancer screenings, STI testing, and, where legally allowed, abortion care.
Yet, 28 million women of reproductive age are now facing severe restrictions as abortion bans take hold in their states.
These bans are costing lives. We know the names and stories of those affected, and tragically, they are just the beginning. Every day under these restrictions means more suffering, more lives impacted.
Americans are deeply anxious and fearful. Abortion is both a vital service and widely supported by the public.
Americans don’t want politicians interfering in personal health care choices.
MAGA Republicans are relentlessly attacking reproductive freedom, undermining the rights and autonomy of millions of Americans. Their harmful agenda puts personal medical decisions in the hands of politicians, stripping away essential healthcare and endangering lives. We must stand united to protect reproductive justice and preserve the rights of all people to control their own bodies.

Health advocates in Africa worry Trump will reimpose abortion ‘gag rule’ governing US aid
Boston Globe By Farai Mutsaka
As he did in his first term, U.S President-elect Donald Trump is likely in January to invoke the so-called global gag rule, a policy that bars U.S. foreign aid from being used to perform abortions or provide abortion information. The policy cuts off American government funding for services that women around the world rely on to avoid pregnancy or to space out their children, as well as for heath care unrelated to abortion.
If Democrats could compromise with Republicans on abortion, should they?
Vox By Rachel Cohen
Since the fall of Roe v. Wade, Democratic lawmakers and reproductive rights advocates have maintained a clear strategy: Win a more progressive Democratic trifecta in 2024, eliminate the Senate filibuster, and pass comprehensive federal protections. When reporters asked about contingency plans — particularly given polls suggesting full Democratic control was unlikely — such questions were dismissed, cast as premature or defeatist.

Trump's first week in office may set tone on abortion policy
Roll Call By Sandhya Raman
President-elect Donald Trump’s first actions upon taking office in January could set the tone for how much he plans to leave the issue of regulating abortion to the states. Presidents typically make two key global family planning decisions during their first week in office: whether to fund the United Nations Population Fund, known as UNFPA, and whether to fund foreign nongovernmental organizations that perform, refer for or provide counseling for abortion abroad.

What is the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) ?
The Women's Health Protection Act (WHPA) has been introduced into Congress and will protect a woman's health, ability to make her own decisions, and constitutional rights.
Despite its popularity among most Americans, the Women's Health Protection Act passed in 2021 in the House of Representatives under Democratic Nancy Pelosi's leadership but failed to advance in the Senate due to a Republican blockade.
